Is it business pressure? Players grinding and consuming the content in less time than expected? Rush for monthly updates? By the technology the dev/product team? who knows. Please don’t rush, take time but deliver to us more quality instead of speed. ![]() One of the things I can’t understand is how simple bugs like wrong translations or maxing out the HUD interface can get delivered to production, isn’t there a quality assurance process first? I know that is impossible to test all features, but you must have a map of changes in the code and test what was affected, even the translations. What I can say is that you’re doing a great job and delivering a good quality game, despite the bugs, but will take more time to have an exceptional game. From my Dev background perspective, it’s like the devs are fighting against the technology used in NW, the community says that Lumberyard was not designed for MMOs, I disagree a bit due to the P2P topology but I don’t wanna go too deep in the technical aspectsĪbout the Dev/Product team parcel, I don’t have much to say, they are human, people who are doing their jobs as everyone does. I’m playing since the beta, and I few like I never came out from the beta phase. Why don’t you have a strong and reliable testing process before release? So well, we are facing “risks” as end-users (players), the technology is not stabilized, every update tons of bugs are inserted (not intentionally I guess), the question comes to the developer teams: Source: Bleeding Edge Technology Definition. Bleeding edge technology usually comes with a degree of risk and expense for the end-user-in most cases, the consumer. New World is probably the most technological MMO in this decade so far, nothing like Unreal or Unity but the bleeding edge Azoth Engine (and Lumberyard ? ).īleeding edge technology is a type of technology released to the public even though it has not been thoroughly tested and may be unreliable. The dev team is too immature or not well engaged with the technology (seniority) that may deliver poor quality code causing these minor bugs.Too technological that may have unpredictable behaviour each new version deployment.I know software has bugs, sometimes generated by 3rd Party technology, sometimes by human failure, and for me, the NW issues have 2 clear reasons: I understand the business behind it, and most of your players don’t, they don’t know the process to concept, create, code, test and deploy it, and why I’m writing this thread, not as criticism but more like empathy to the NW’s developers. This passion drove me to my career, I didn’t program games, but I’m involved with high availability and ultra performative systems. I’m a software engineer, programming since 2002, I’m passionate about MMORPG, and expend more than half of my life playing this genre, RuneScape, MU online, Lineage2, Elder Scrolls Online and now NW.
